Trace notes are special notes that are similar to long notes, but they don't gauge your accuracy during their start and end points. Just keep your finger pressed down throughout the duration of the trace note, and you're good to go!

In a way, the beats in the middle of a long note (after the initial tap, but before the release) are a type of trace note too.
